The Life of an Artist called Adrian Piper
Adrian Margaret Piper was born on September 20, 1948 in Harlem, NY to Daniel Piper and Olive Xavier Smith Piper. Even as an only child, Adrian was still able to succeed in life and overcome the anxieties that life held before her. As a child, Piper, although black, was sometimes able to pass as a white person, because of her fair complexion. Creating interesting works of art from the most vivid imaginations of her mind, Piper, has become a top notch artist and educator at schools such as Harvard and the University of Michigan. She has attended schools such as the School of Visual Arts in NY, City College of New York, and Massachusetts College of Art. She has become the epitome of a “successful” conceptual artist, having evoked the artist within other people worldwide.
